Two days before Star Wars: Episode IV, two smugglers
rendezvous with an Imperial commander who recently defected from the
Empire. The officer has stolen the top secret plans to the Empire’s new
Death Star and wants the smugglers to deliver them to the Rebel
Alliance. But before they can leave, a bounty hunter arrives, and it
becomes a fight to survive, for the winner will hold the fate of the
galaxy in his hand.In the first days of internet-based Star Wars fan audio dramas, there were three projects launched at roughly the same time: the first in production, Rise of Nobility; the first to be released, Second Strike; and one other, Michael Mays' Smuggler's Run. Created by a crew of one and cast of two, Smuggler's Run was ambitious in the tale it told with such a small team. Production would be slowed, however, by outside forces, so that while Second Strike premiered in late 2002, and Rise of Nobility premiered in late 2003, Smuggler's Run would not premiere until March 24, 2004, once the genre was already in full swing. It was a long-awaited premiere that did not disappoint. Here, we are happy to present the last of the original three online Star Wars fan audio dramas, Smuggler's Run. STARRING: Michael Mays; Joe Machado WRITTEN by Michael Mays MIXED by Michael Mays (Originally released by Omega Pictures Ltd. in 2004) More information: http://www.starwarsfanworks.com/smugglersrun.html Comments[0] |
Sun, 17 February 2008 ![]() Rise of Nobility is a story about Padme Amidala growing up. Padme wasn't always the stolid, non-emotional and self-assured queen that she was in The Phantom Menace. What Rise of Nobility tries to explain is why and how she becomes that way. Feelings of dissapointment, anger and regret cause her grow up much earlier than most. These events forge her into the queen that she will become. Back in the earliest days of Star Wars fan audio dramas, three projects entered production. These were the so-called first generation Star Wars fan audio dramas. That generation included: Omega Pictures' Smuggler's Run; Rayzur's Edge Audio's Second Strike; and the very first fan audio drama to enter production by a group of Star Wars fans in the internet age, Shaven Wookiee Productions' Rise of Nobility. Under the guidance of Keith Abbott, Linda Lyons, and Pamela Kinney, Rise of Nobility not only helped create the foundations of the fan audio drama subgenre but also attempted (rather successfully, one might add) to recreate voices of established Star Wars characters, something rarely done, even today, in audio dramas (outside of voice-altered characters, such as Darth Vader). We are happy to bring you this classic entry into the Star Wars fan audio genre. STARRING: Elizabeth Ascot; Evan Slaasted; Kody Hencz; Ted Alderman; and many others WRITTEN by Linda Lyons MIXED by Keith Abbott (Originally released by Shaven Wookiee Productions in 2003) More information: http://www.starwarsfanworks.com/riseofnobility.html Comments[0] |
Wed, 13 February 2008 ![]() Rebel soldiers (Captain Ledok, General Jan Dodonna, his daughter Captain Jan Dodonna, and the Cyborg Jedi Blaeyr Tyson) have hijacked an Imperial carrier. Wed, 13 February 2008 ![]() Emperor Palpatine has dispatched his Imperial military to the peaceful H'rahk Sector at the edge of the Expansion Region. However, he did not realize it was under the protection of the Rebel Alliance. Now, a battle has broken out that will test the courage of the Imperials and Rebels alike. Star Wars: Conquest of the Empire introduced the fan audio community to a new name in the community, an individual who would go on to become one of the genre's most prolific writers and producers. Joe Harrison (first under the name Force Flow Unltd, then COTE Audio Productions, then EUII Audio Corps, and now under the name Lion's Mouth Entertainment) began his fan audio "career" with the first chapter of Conquest of the Empire, a five-part Star Wars fan audio drama series. The first episode, Defense and Trepidation, peremiered (sans title) on June 13, 2005, featured voices that were almost entirely variations on a wide range of vocal performances by Harrison himself, but as the project grew and the project gained more and more acclaim from within the community, Harrison returned to the project in 2006 to release a remixed, recast, expanded Special Edition of the chapter on December 19, 2006. Here, we present the Special Edition of Conquest of the Empire's first chapter, Defense and Trepidation . . . STARRING: Joe Harrison; Silas Carder; Ron Barnes; Nathan P. Butler; Mike Lane; Bryan Patrick Stoyle; Eric Olp; and others WRITTEN by Joe Harrison MIXED by Joe Harrison (Originally released by Lion's Mouth Entertainment in 2005; Special Edition released in 2006) More information: http://www.starwarsfanworks.com/conquest.html Comments[0] |
Tue, 12 February 2008 ![]() Tonight marks a first for the Fanworks Audio Feed. For the first time, we are premiering a new fan audio production (a new audio drama by Memoirs of a Jedi creator Jeff Vitkuske) via the Audio Feed, while simultaneously releasing the project as a new release via the Star Wars Fanworks website. While the feed tends to focus upon classic fan audio, it also gives us a chance, when we have some advance warning, to provide you with new content alongside the Fanworks site's own coverage. The new audio drama in question is Jeff Vitkuske's second fan audio drama project, The Last Jedi. The piece deals with the final confrontation between the "last" living Jedi and Darth Vader. As the nameless warrior narrates us through his final moments, he contemplates the fat of not only himself, but that of the galaxy and its last hope - a hero that will one day rise from the darkness . . .
